Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Is Here, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.
The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Iconic Releases
Much like the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a popular character from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Significant Period for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut near the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his companions.
The company has a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
