2K Games has secured a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to oversee the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently crafting the upcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Leadership Change Follows Mixed Reception

Brinkman steps into the leadership position at 31st Union following the departure of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's lackluster initial reveal last fall.

On Wednesday, the company's top executive a key figure notified employees about this organizational change through an internal memo, which emphasized that playtesting had shown the requirement for a distinct game identity.

The president stated that the developers is now overhauling the project with a renewed vision, aiming to address gamer demands.

A Pattern of Key Hires

This announcement follows a comparable move taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they recruited an industry veteran from the Diablo team to work on the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

The trust in Project ETHOS strengthens every day. To further the remarkable advancement you’ve made, It is a pleasure to announce Ben Brinkman as the incoming Director of 31st Union. After several months of conversations, Ben officially joins us on Monday, October 20.

His management and expertise in the competitive gaming genre is considerable, having spent the last 15 years developing and overseeing some of the most well-known titles in gaming, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, Apex Legends.

Brinkman currently serves in the position of senior developer and production lead at Respawn Entertainment for Apex Legends. He previously worked at Treyarch and Activision in multiple development positions on the Call of Duty series, and, earlier in his career, had assignments at other industry leaders.
